A cocina integral: coordinate cabinetry, worktop, appliances and services

Approve dimensions and appliance requirements before fabrication, then compare the complete installed kitchen rather than cabinets alone.

Plan one kitchen across all suppliers

Begin with storage, food preparation, cooking, washing and waste sorting. Draw the actual room, openings and service positions. IKEA México’s planning guide starts with measurements and the location of pipes, switches, outlets and water supplies. Use the current requirements of your chosen products; one supplier’s clearances or cabinet system are not universal dimensions.

This independent Mexico City project replaces an existing kitchen without structural alterations or a shared-service move. Wall-wide decoration and floor renewal are excluded. If a whole-house quotation already includes this kitchen or its appliances, replace those lines rather than adding the complete kitchen budget again. Preliminary measurements support design; agree who takes and signs the binding production measurements.

Ask who completes the specialist connections after cabinet fitting and who checks that a planned appliance remains removable. Do not hide a shutoff or electrical connection behind inaccessible joinery. A supplier rendering cannot establish that an existing circuit, drain or ventilation route can accommodate the proposed equipment.

Budget the complete installed package

The figures below are invented MXN amounts. The example assumes all lines within the subtotal are standard-taxable at 16%; the separate design fee is already final. Cabinetry includes specified hardware but excludes the separately priced worktop and appliances. Installation includes agreed cabinet/worktop fitting, while the services line covers specified alterations and final specialist connections.

Check fillers, visible end panels, plinths, handles, internal fittings and lighting against the same specification. Ask whether measuring or design fees are included, extra or credited later. A credited fee belongs once in the account, not both as an additional charge and inside the supplier’s final price.

Set measurement and fabrication gates

Coordinate completed wall and floor surfaces with the final measurement. Some worktops require templating after cabinets are installed; obtain the fabricator’s actual sequence and lead time. Allow for a temporary cooking arrangement if fabrication and specialist connections require separate visits. A promised cabinet delivery date is not necessarily a date when the kitchen will function.

Agree access, carrying, storage and who checks damage or shortages. Record the product identifiers and delivered quantities promptly. A delivery receipt confirms a different event from acceptance of the installed kitchen. Keep the approved drawing revision attached to the order so a later discussion concerns the same dimensions and products.

Price a change before authorising production

An illustrative worktop upgrade costs MXN 4,000 more before IVA with no other changes. Under the example’s tax assumption that adds MXN 4,640 final. Keeping the reserve raises the funding provision to MXN 151,452. Paying the difference from reserve keeps the original MXN 146,812 provision and leaves MXN 7,360 of reserve.

In practice, a heavier worktop or different sink may also alter supports, cut-outs, carrying and fitting. Obtain the whole effect, including any removed item credit and schedule change. An advance against the cabinet order reduces its balance; it does not reduce the agreed kitchen price or pay another supplier’s bill.

Accept a maintainable kitchen

  1. Compare products and hardware with the approved order.
  2. Check alignment, opening clearances and access.
  3. Have relevant specialists complete and record installation checks.
  4. Demonstrate appliances and inspect water connections under their instructions.
  5. Record worktop joints, seals, missing items and defects.
  6. Collect final drawings, care instructions and supplier contacts.

Keep photographs of concealed routes and identify the responsible supplier for each part. A usable completion record makes later maintenance easier and distinguishes a cabinet adjustment from a plumbing, electrical or appliance issue.

Each article describes an independent project. VAT is applied only under the example’s explicit assumptions; final amounts already include the applicable tax.
